Ten Things You Need To See At The 2013 NADA Miami Art Fair

Love them, or hate them, art fairs are now a firmly entrenched part of the art world’s commercial mechanism. Every art fair has its own unique feel and vibe. Some are stately and serene, while others are brash and raucous. Of all the smaller art fairs that take place annually, perhaps none is able to generate the amount of pure heat that the annual installment of the NADA Art Fait in Miami is able to. The VIP preview of NADA has consistently been one of the most eagerly anticipated events on the art fair circuit. On opening morning the biggest collectors in the world, and those on down the food chain, our lined up for what can only be described as a feeding frenzy.

This year’s installment of NADA, Opening Thursday December 5th, is sure to have manufacturers of tiny red dots working overtime to meet the demand. The fair can now be previewed on the excellent art web site Artsy. I spent some time checking it out and after the jump are ten things that are Must See as far as I am concerned. - Steven Zevitas, Publisher

Miami Highlights: Art Miami / Context and Untitled

I made it to Art Miami and Art Context on opening night. It was jammed...There was a lot of talk about the Banksy pieces which were apparently taken from "the streets" of the Middle East and brought here for exhibit and sale. However you feel about the removal and placement, I think most people will agree that the pieces didn't seem to play well in this context. And, for Banksy, isn't context what it's all about? But I digress...

Miami Highlights: Miami Project and Pulse

Today let's tackle Pulse and Miami Project. The latter of which is a brand new fair located in Wynwood. It sported an impressive roster and a nice tent, I might add. But I'll let the photographs speak for themselves. Tomorrow, Art Miami/Context and Untitled (yet another new fair). - Andrew Katz, Associate Publisher

Miami Highlights: Basel and Aqua

I'm back from a crazy week in Miami and I have too many pictures for just one post...Or two or three for that matter. I figure the best way to tackle this is to post highlights from different fairs and collections each day of this week. To kick things off I thought it would be fun to start with two extremes, Basel and Aqua (the latter of which was voted by our readers as "The Best Miami Fair for Emerging Art" and recently purchased by Art Miami LLC).

New American Paintings Guide To Miami 2012

It's hard to believe it’s that time of year again...In one week we are headed to Miami for Art Basel and other shenanigans. Another year, another list! We’ve put this post together to highlight some of our favorite fairs to check out while in Miami, if you are fortunate enough to make it. We are especially looking forward to UNTITLED and MIAMI PROJECT, two newcomers to the Miami scene that we hope can make an impact on the annual art-a-thon.

What Is The Best Miami Fair For Emerging Art (POLL)

In a little over a month people will be flocking to Miami to visit countless art fairs. Everyone has their favorites, based on a countless number of criteria. New American Paintings prides itself on helping expose the work of hundreds of new emerging artists each year. We continue to serve as a publication that allows its readers to discover new artistic talent in each issue. Not surprisingly, we feel a good art fair should also be a place where art-lovers can have that same sense of discovery.

Armory and Scope: Joshua Field Checks In

We heard earlier from Lee Grainer at the Armory and Scope. Now it's Joshua Field's turn to share what caught his eye while at the fairs. Joshua is our second guest photo blogger helping us cover the fairs in New York City. We are excited to have another painter share their perspective and favorite pieces while observing the large gathering of contemporary galleries and artists in Big Apple. When I asked Joshua to share his thoughts thus far, he offered the following:
