NAP At stARTup Art Fair Chicago
We're happy to be a sponsor and participant of the stARTup Art Fair Chicago. The core mission of stARTup Art Fair is to provide a professional exhibition venue for independent artists -- artists who do not have a formal agreement with a commercial gallery. With their venerable Selection Committee made up of a diverse range of art world professionals, stARTup Art Fair Chicago aims to generate the dynamism and excitement of 30+ vetted, solo or two-person exhibitions for one glorious and stimulating 3-day weekend.
Our booth will feature 5 past featured New American Paintings artists including, Leslie Baum (NAP #47, #59, #119), Alex Bradley Cohen (NAP #113), Mel Cook (NAP #125), Celeste Rapone (NAP #105, #125, and Allison Reimus (NAP #88, #113, #125).

VOTE NOW! NAP ANNUAL PRIZE: 2014 READER’S CHOICE POLL
From thousands to one…In 2014 our jurors reviewed the work of more than 20,000 individual works of art by more than 5000 artists. Our jurors have the impossible task of selecting the 240 artists to be featured in New American Paintings. Of those artists, twelve (two from each issue) were distinguished as being “Noteworthy.”Well, now it is your opportunity to help us turn 12 artists into 1. Below, you will find 2014’s twelve Noteworthy artists listed, along with an image and brief commentary. One of these 12 artists will be named the New American Paintings Artist of the Year! In addition to being featured again in our 2015 June/July issue, the winner of the Reader’s Choice Annual Prize will receive a cash prize of $500 and a $1,000 Blick Art Materials gift certificate sponsored by:
Cast your vote by Sunday January 18 (Midnight EST). The winner of the Reader’s Choice poll will be announced on Wednesday, January 21st.

Emerging Again: D.C.’s (e)merge Goes Into Its Second Year
Last year’s preview night at (e)merge was a big, ruckus party. Amidst the large crowds it was often difficult to navigate the hallways between exhibitors, and the wait for the elevators always seemed impossibly long. While it may have been loads of fun for those of us sipping PBRs by the pool, perusing and buying artwork that evening seemed to require a bit more resolve and determination.
