James Kalm Presents Nicole Eisenman, Woodcuts, Etchings, Lithographs and Monotypes (VIDEO)
"James Kalm dodges into the Leo Koenig Gallery, and captures some video of the opening of Nicole Eisenman: Woodcuts, Etchings, Lithographs and Monotypes. Though Eisenman has received extensive critical attention for her painting, this show reveals an abiding attachment and pursuit of, the grand tradition of classic printmaking. While the monotypes display a very painterly sensibility. Eisenman's etchings and lithographs highlight the artists wonderful facility with linen and tone."
Thanks to James...And to you readers, Enjoy!

Heart to Art: Thao Votang and Brian Willey of Tiny Park (Part I)
Living half a block from West Chelsea's gallery scene equalled art overload for this former New York City resident. I figured I wouldn't find the same convenience in Austin, TX...until I discovered the adorable apartment gallery Tiny Park, within walking distance of my flat. Tiny Park's petite size belied its creative and compelling exhibitions, organized by owners Brian Willey and Thao Votang. Less than a year after opening their doors to the public, Tiny Park moved to a proper commercial space on Austin's east side. I spoke with Willey and Votang about their plans for the new, not-so-Tiny Park. — Brian Fee, Austin contributor

Gallerist at Home: Andres Guerrero
Andres Guerrero, current director and owner of the Guerrero Gallery in the Mission District in San Francisco, and former director/founder of White Walls, is not your typical gallery director. Glancing at both the art in his gallery and at his home makes that clear.

Must See Paintings Shows: July/August
The heat has been turned way up on the East Cost, which is all the more reason to duck into a few galleries as you trudge through the city. As is typical for the summer months, a lot of galleries have mounted group exhibitions, and many of them focus on painting.

A Conversation with Joan Watts about “Poems and More” at Charlotte Jackson Fine Art
This June, Charlotte Jackson Fine Art exhibited a new body of work by painter Joan Watts. Watts has been painting since the 1960s, and she has managed to successfully forge a singular path throughout the waxing and waning of art market trends and historical movements. Charlotte Jackson has represented Watts for several years now, and she is the rare kind of art dealer who supports the essential changes and developments of her artists.

Oil Paint Porn: Zhu Jinshi at Blum & Poe
Upon entering Blum & Poe, visitors are greeted with an overwhelming smell of paint. Zhu Jinshi’s oil paintings are massive in size and massively interactive and encapsulating in presence.
Jinshi is a Beijing-based artist and Blum & Poe’s show is not just a 20-year retrospective, it is also his first solo presentation in the U.S. And it is delightful.
