My paintings and drawings center on figure, invented spaces and emerging abstracted forms. I take apart and reassemble writing and architecture to create visual systems that relentlessly shift between abstraction and representation. Under a sustained gaze, time dilates and figures begin to dissolve into color, form and surface tension. I build opacity in my work by stripping away conventional cultural cues to see what meaning remains. I am curious how the notions of looking, presence, and the present moment can free the viewer from the urge to decode, allowing her just to witness the work.
