Artist Statement
I make art to sift through information; the act of painting serves
as a site for wrestling with thoughts, feelings, and reactions to
daily experiences. Sometimes this coheres into invented vignettes
with figures and objects, and in other instances it is reduced to
something basic and essential. In all cases, I look to stretch past
my previous work and to draw constellations of associations that
accurately reflect my inner life. The paintings serve as a kind of
map or bridge between the inside and the outside.
