Artist Statement
I am interested in the effects of digital technology on our sense of place. Whereas glitches in digital technology may be inconvenient, I exploit them to explore the complex and hyper-visual nature of our techno-mediated reality. By exposing image encoding I can reveal and investigate structure and spatial dynamics.
These works are from Reading Between the Lines, a recent body of work investigating landscape as historical record, and vernacular architecture as anthropology. Inspired by nostalgic imagery drawn from our present-day landscape, through formal shifts I untether structures and signs from the past and situate them in the present in order to question our future.
