My current work speculates on the efficacy of economic, natural resources and architectural models for controlling tangled networks of built and natural systems. This series explores how the ‘model,’ can be a means of abstraction and artistic expression, with the artist as modeler and the painting as model.

Starting from an accumulation of watercolor layers, I develop these works by iteratively lifting and washing paint in relation to the emerging network of marks. This process surfaces larger forms that evoke swirling ecologies, flowers, leaves, and other networked imagery. Within this setting, geometric interventions are introduced, reconciled, and consumed until the composition reaches visual equilibrium.
