Artist Statement
Painting and making art is a meditative activity for me. Some of these repetitive painting processes include dripping, blowing, layering, and piling. Many pieces combine all of these techniques. Playing with paint and other materials is more interesting than creating images.
The most recent paintings are a meticulous piling of paint drops creating “paint ropes.” The pieces are three-dimensional hybrids of painting and sculpture. When they are freed from the canvas, they spill from the wall and pile up. Some are formed into “paint balls” and “knots.” I am continually exploring new ways to build curious objects with these accumulations of paint.
