Artist Statement

I paint uneasy, visual narratives that stain the romanticized American domestic sphere with lurid, synthetic color. Shocks of neon magenta, blue, and yellow recolor snapshots of childhood and family dysfunction with garish opulence. At the border between memory and fantasy, my work explores self-identification, kinship, and coming of age. Nostalgic and melancholic echoes of the past, the paintings recall the dichotomy of isolation and connection intrinsic to family life.
