Steven L. Bridges is Assistant Curator at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University. Forthcoming exhibitions include the debut of British artist Sam Jury’s new project, To Be Here. Prior to this, Bridges was Curatorial Assistant at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. During his time there he curated solo exhibitions of the work of Faheem Majeed and Jason Lazarus—the latter of which traveled to the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco. He also assisted numerous other solo and group exhibitions, including the major retrospective exhibition of the work of Doris Salcedo, which traveled to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Pérez Art Museum Miami. Since 2011, Bridges has co-curated the annual Rapid Pulse International Performance Art Festival in Chicago, which features cutting-edge work from local, national and international artists, alongside a curated video program, panel discussions, and artist presentations. In 2012 he co-curated the MFA thesis exhibition at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, his alma mater—where he earned Master's Degrees in Arts Administration & Policy and Art History, Theory & Criticism. An avid writer, his essays and articles have been published in numerous journals, including Art & the Public Sphere, the Live Arts Almanac, Dispatch, and Art & Education Papers, as well as numerous exhibition catalogues and other online and print media.
