Artist Statement
My early large food paintings were landscapes with black lace doilies—and gradually, the paintings are getting brighter and filled with ever more air and light. Over time, the under-painting of chaos and over-painting of representational images has grown to focus more on the abstract painting and neon glow underneath. I move paint around and attempt to make the work heave and glow and pop. Linking food, ecstatic longing, and paint has been the main theme in my work for thirty years.
