Artist Statement

As a painter I try to dig through two piles of existence, one personal and one shared to find interesting ways to make a third pile, one in which I have combined and confused the symbols. In life, some things I have experienced myself, others I have only read about or seen on TV. I try to make art that organizes these disparate experiences in a way that makes sense to me. My hope is that the resulting paintings are interesting to look at and think about. Rules erode, meanings mix together, stories blend. There is no fact-checker and things are misunderstood. There is a fourth pile that I have not yet identified but am very interested in.
