Artist Statement

Jackson Daughety is a chronically online artist from Dallas, Texas. He is interested in the way visual culture collaborates to create the mythology of the elite. Through appropriation, painting and collage, he questions the efficacy of a visual culture of abundance and prosperity in the face of worldwide regression. The work imagines a future in which, as this fiction further separates form physical reality, the culture of images is stretched to a breaking point in order to fill in the narrative gaps.
