Ione Bleu Bustos is a Los Angeles-based artist with a multidisciplinary studio practice that includes painting, drawing, ceramics, and printmaking. Her work is rooted in the evolution of her specific identities and their nuances, Bustos regularly mining herself and her lived experiences as source material. The figures that fill her works, which are almost always manifestations of herself, speak to the artist’s relationship with herself and the larger world at hand.

Bustos is also informed by the history and practice of electronic music and its highly sophisticated subculture, as well as the experiences of navigating her own place within it. By weaving these two central themes together, Bustos’s larger body of work aims to orchestrate an entirely new and subverted reality in which she is the central character.
