Artist Statement
My paintings are concerned with genuine character. Beginning with snapshot digital portraits, I create works that show individuals in a moment of honest expression. I often paint these images at a bold scale and in hyperrealistic detail to bring forth an energetic and lasting presence. The fleeting moment becomes a persevering statement. No image is posed, and the final image is intended to be an elusive, sincere expression.
