The vulnerability of the body, animal and human alike, has been a core theme in my work. In an ongoing series, I am painting children with common childhood maladies and other oddities, "latchkey" kids running amok and unsupervised in their imagined alternate realities.
I address ideas related to loss and explore our complex relationship to sickness and the fleeting nature of good health, as well as notions of resilience. While the looming spectre of death haunts my work, a lifelong love affair with hypochondria lightens the proceedings.
