Artist Statement
Goodman creates portraits that challenge perceptions of identity. Her use of bright colors and slick surface create bold first impressions, yet her subjects and conflating imagery allude to more complex people behind the characters.
While the work appears playful at first glance, a darker sensibility lurks beneath the surface. Beyond the darkness is a return to the playful through an exuberant sense of freedom and independence.
