Volta New York Moving to SOHO

Written by Andrew Katz Katz

We just found out that one of our favorite fairs is moving to SOHO! From the Volta Show NY press release: "VOLTA NY, taking place from Thursday, March 7, through Sunday, March 10, is thrilled to announce its NEW LOCATION for 2013: 82MERCER in SoHo, New York. The Mercer Street building's 50,000 square foot exhibition space, comprising two floors and daylight loft-like spaces, is nestled in a groovy corner of SoHo and will provide a handsome platform for VOLTA NY's strictly solo-project format, including a broad international roster as well as plenty of local representation." Past NAP/Blog Volta posts: http://newamericanpaintings.wordpress.com/2012/03/13/new-american-paintings-nyc-art-fair-field-trip/ http://newamericanpaintings.wordpress.com/2012/03/12/lee-gainer-at-volta-ny/ http://newamericanpaintings.wordpress.com/2012/03/11/fountain-volta-independent/ More info from Volta and photos of the new space after the jump! " 82MERCER is 50,000 square feet of event space spread over two floors in the heart of SoHo. A former manufacturing facility, 82MERCER still retains some of its original 19th century details, including cast iron columns, 14-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, and brick archways. Loft-style windows provide plenty of natural light and views of Broadway and Mercer Street. For both exhibitors and visitors alike, the SoHo-based location means more hotels, restaurants and stores – both high-end retail or downtown practical. The neighborhood, notable for being the location of artists‘ lofts and art galleries, the New Museum of Contemporary Art, and for the wide variety of stores and shops ranging from trendy boutiques to outlets of upscale national and international stores, makes attendance a pleasure for everybody. The 82MERCER location offers a unique atmosphere easily accessible by taxi or subway. With a total of 5 subway lines stopping either six blocks east from Spring Street Station (C/E Train Downtown), three blocks west from Spring Street Station (6 Train Downtown) or two blocks south and one block west from Prince Street Station (N/R Train Downtown)."
