NAP Southern Issue (#106) Sneak Peek

The New American Paintings, Southern Issue, #106, is expected to hit newsstands across the US sometime in the next few weeks. Miranda Lash, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, New Orleans Museum of Art, juried the competition. Publisher Steven Zevitas notes in his Editor's Note, "Miranda has made quite a splasjh in New Orleans since her arrival in 2008, having already organized fifteen exhibitions at NOMA. Her selections for this issue are broad, and include a few New Orleans favorites such as Jim Richard and Luis Cruz Azaceta. In her essay, Lash offers keen insights into the conceptual and aesthetic trens she detects in contemporary art from the south." So pick up a copy and see her selections!

NAP MFA Annual (#105) Sneak Peek

The New American Paintings, 2013 MFA Annual, Issue #105, is expected to hit newsstands across the US sometime in mid-April. The juror for the MFA Annual was Dominic Molon, Chief Curator, Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, Missouri. The MFA Annual is one of our most highly anticipated issues. It contains artists that have recently completed their Masters of Fine Arts studies within the last year, or are current MFA candidates. Over 100 art schools from all over the country were represented in this competition.

New American Paintings #104 Sneak Peak

Within the next few weeks the Northeast issue of New American Paintings, #104, will be received by subscribers and newsstands across the country. Juror, Nina Gara Bozicnik, Assistant Curator, Currier Museum of Art, Manchester, NH, spent a week selecting the artists you see below. In her essay, Nina notes, "There is no one theme that unifies the works features in these pages, but rather a shared invitation to look, feel, and thinks your way through the dynamic terrain of painting today. I based my selections on the extent to which a painting engaged my eyes, mind, and heart. I hope they have a similarly provocative and inspiring effect on you."

New American Paintings #103 Sneak Peek

Within the next few weeks the Pacific Coast issue of New American Paintings, #103, will be received by subscribers and newsstands across the country. Juror, Monica Ramirez-Montagut, Senior Curator at the San Jose Museum of Art, carefully selected the artists you see below. In her essay, Monica notes, "The selection for New American Paintings makes evident the vitality and vibrancy of paintings, and  the impossibility of narrowing down the practice to one trend or style. Painting continues to be a sublime, visceral, fully fleshed, colorful, and witty facilitator of self-expression."

NAP #101 Sneak Peek

Within the next few weeks the Midwest issue of New American Paintings, #101, will be received by subscribers and newsstands across the country. Publisher/Editor, Steven Zevitas, remarks in his Editor's note, "I have a feeling that this issue of New American Paintings might be a bit provocative to a portion of our readership on account of the ways it pushes the idea of what constitutes a 'painting.'" Pacific Coast Issue #97 Sneak Peak!

The 2011 Pacific Coast Issue, #97, is now hitting newsstands across the US. It is expected to ship to subscribers in the next 1 to 2 weeks, so keep an eye out. The juror for this much-anticipated issue was Anne Ellegood, Senior Curator, Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA.

In her essay, Ellegood notes that, "Painting is a surface for imagination. This is abundantly evident in the submissions I reviewed for this edition of New American Paintings.
