Since joining the Cleveland Museum of Art in 2017, Liebert has curated Raúl de Nieves: Fina and co-curated Kerry James Marshall: Works on Paper with Reto Thüring. Currently, in collaboration with Ugochukwu-Smooth Nzewi, she is organizing Ámà: The Gathering Place by Emeka Ogboh, and editing its catalogue. This will be the CMA’s first contemporary art commission in the museum’s Ames Family Atrium. Before coming to the CMA, at the Museum of Modern Art, Liebert served as curatorial assistant on the traveling retrospective Robert Rauschenberg: Among Friends (2017) and contributed to its catalogue. She curated Multiple Occupancy: Eleanor Antin’s “Selves” (2013), which opened at Columbia University’s Wallach Art Gallery and traveled to the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston. Previously, at the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas, Liebert was coordinator for education and public affairs. She holds a BA from Yale University and a PhD from Columbia University. At Columbia, Liebert taught in the Department of Art History and in its School of the Arts. Her art criticism has appeared in Artforum and Frieze.
