Cam DeCaussin
A silent drama exists in all households, undercurrents that ebb
and flow in any family. There is a mystery, a secret, a façade that
develops over time, and every once in a while you catch a glimpse
of that world. I have become enthralled with the question of what
goes on next door, and try to comprehend what I learn about its
ambiguous narrative. Utilizing the backdrop of suburban and
small-town living, I take the ideal American dream and surround
it with the cryptic realities perceived in the public-private space of
the yard. The perceptions center around the uncertainty of what
has been witnessed, ranging from suspicion of a dark unknown to
a sense of loneliness and solitude.
