My current paintings employ synthetic camouflage nets as
“allover” stencils that provide a framework for abstraction.
Camouflage netting is used primarily in the field of combat. Its
function is to hide or obscure the recognition of important objects.
Because of its perforated construction, the net does not serve
as a complete covering. It is designed to incorporate the covered
object as a contributor to its own concealment.
I am interested in creating paintings that address themselves as
objects while reflecting on the intuitive gesture that is so much a
part of the tradition and evolution of abstract painting.
