My paintings are investigations of color and space. They are
hard-edged geometric abstractions that create eccentric visual
experiences. I make them by layering elements in a collage-like
way, and their surfaces reveal this process. I think of the paintings
as being built, put together part by part, to compose a geometric
net, a vibratory field. The frames (which function in more than one
way) reinforce the idea of an interior space, one that moves back
without extending left or right or up and down as they continuously
open and close. The frames also allow the paintings to be active
from all viewing angles, giving them a sculptural presence.
