My recent work is centered around my complicated and
somewhat stunted affinity for sculpture, which I’ve come
to realize is greatly informed by drawing, painting, and
photography, typically two-dimensional mediums. I am looking
at the ways we represent volume in two dimensions and in
turn the ways in which sculptures/objects can be suggestive
of shallow space or flatness. Color and shape are an important
part of this. Perspective and point of view play a role as well.
I am interested in the play of a picture in the round.
My work celebrates pop, the handmade, color, line, the cheap
illusion, and the codependent and oppositional relationship
between documentation and sculpture.
