My paintings reflect an immersion in childish and superficial
environments as a diversion from the feeling of insignificance
in an uncontrolled world. A mixture of recycled materials, paint,
kitschy glitter, and neon from consumer culture merges with
dirt and grittiness. By joining these elements in compositions
often brought to the brink of explosion, my work projects an
awareness of the tension between triviality and unsettling
realities, and of opposites coexisting in a world of chaos.
Stripes and patterns providing comfort in their predictability
are interrupted. Like material beauty, they attempt to mask
difficult truths lying beneath a decorative surface.
