Patrick Donovan
I make paintings of inkjet prints of, with few exceptions,
photographs, paintings, and drawings that I have taken or made
myself. I take a photograph of the work, enlarge it to the size of the
planned painting, print it out on a home printer in sections, usually
on ordinary 10-by-8-inch paper, tape the sections together, put
them on a wall, and then paint this mock-up. I reproduce existing
printing errors such as off-colors, streaks, and blurs.
