Nola Parker
I am drawn to ordinary places: backyards, street corners,
neighborhoods, inconspicuous scenes that show the endurance
of nature despite our human intervention. These landscapes
reveal the living worlds that thrive around us, concentrated bursts
of diversity and life. In observing these urban habitats, we see an
uncomplicated theme: we are not alone on this planet. The worlds
I am inspired to create explore this connection, the push-andpull
between civilization and wilderness. I do not aim to create a
flawless image, nor do I strive for realism. I work to capture the
energy that is not visible at first, but can be found in all things.
