Artist Statement
At present, I am focused on portraiture. I am compelled by the
idea of using the face as a means of penetrating deeper into our
psyche to recognize certain commonalities and differences. The
portrait elicits a very particular and personal identification of the
viewer with the image.
I aim for a distilled version of what I am thinking of, and I want
the completed work to trigger an open-ended response. The paint
interacts with what it’s representing, allowing the medium and
subject matter to shift and morph into each other, blurring the
lines that separate them.
