People from the past slowly settle into my memory, each forming
a permeable layer over the other. With time, these strata dissolve
and only fragments remain. Jessica’s eagerness, Michael’s
honesty, Amber’s bad decisions all soften into a moment, a
remembered image of someone who once meant something to
me. Over time, these fragile memories slip into the collective
marrow of a life.
Trying to gather our shared thoughts, words, and secrets is like
sifting through fog. Sometimes memories of people appear
unexpectedly; a face illuminated through a cloudy landscape takes
me back. Gradually, however, people slip into a gray stippling of
hair and eyes.
This series explores the loss of relationships and time’s role in
eroding memories of those bonds.
