Artist Statement
At the core of my work is a deep concern and respect for our
planet, particularly its “silent inhabitants”—the animals and
plants we share it with. Through allegory and symbolism, I
express this concern, and at the same time remind viewers of the
wonders in this extraordinary world.
My work speaks to our rapidly changing modern technological
environment and simultaneously presents images of natural
balance, odd beauty, and mystery. The paintings consistently refer
to nature, but they also acknowledge contemporary society, thus
creating a dialogue between the modern world we’ve created and
the fragile, quiet, yet persistent natural environment. Often lush,
sometimes stark and theatrical, my “allegorical realist” paintings
always ask more questions than they answer.
