My recent work is an attempt to restructure painting as a single event. The method involves the fluid application of paint, free from edits, the work making an objective record of its own creation. In removing and concealing my interventions on the canvas, I elevate the agency of the material. Painting is no longer an individual effort, but a contest between my innate desire for beauty matched against paint’s unwaveringly chemical nature. Each painting functions as experimental evidence of beauty without preordained form.
