Artist Statement
My work establishes a conversation regarding post-industrial
realities in the tropics and colonies (such as Puerto Rico), and how
this has affected the way we approach and trade time. Through
carbon steel rust, I juxtpose a natural and unstoppable notion of
time with the idea of long-lasting materials and the attachment
we, as a society, have to them. I do this in order to destroy the
idea of comfort and expose false responsibilities imposed by our
economic system.
