Coming from a sterile planned community in the middle-of-nowhere Maryland presented me with a town so nondescript that I could project my darkest imaginings and fears onto the blank walls of each cookie-cutter house. Before long, these imagined realities became wild, atmospheric landscapes that told a story driven by fear and survival. Situated within these landscapes arose the protagonists of my story, humans moving through my land on a mythic journey. They are in search of respite, running from the catastrophes that often befall frail beings such as us: death, famine, disease. The characters are the vehicles for my narrative as they simultaneously blend in to become a part of the landscape itself.
