My new body of work uses discarded wood gathered from landfills and construction sites in Vermont. Once in the studio I prepare the boards by cutting them into thin strips, taking care to preserve the patinas of the weathered surfaces. I attach the strips to panels with a series of fine wire nails laid along delicate grid-like pencil lines, The resulting works contain aspects of sculpture, drawing, and painting, referencing many of my interests from quilting to architecture.
