My recent work is focused on formal portraits of bearded masculine figures with feminine attributes. Staging the model in the studio, I capture every nuance of his seductive physicality and contemplative stare. Showing the same model over long periods of time, the paintings reveal a strong sense of intimacy and desire between the artist and subject.

Throughout the tenure of my practice, I have engaged with nineteenth-century painting as a pictorial strategy. My recent work subtly brings sociopolitical issues to the forefront of contemporary culture and figurative painting.
