Cecelia Robertson
My current work represents a long and slow discovery or
intersection of interests. Once, while trying to impress someone
I didn’t know, I offered to make a portrait of a geode. Not only
did it satisfy the stranger, it satisfied something that I had been
searching for as an artist—the flat and the spatial, color and
light, elements personified. These objects are satellites, planets,
objects, light, and paint. They represent me, and they represent
the world we live in. They are what we add and what we remove, a
little bit of magic and dimension in a world that is flat.
