Artist Statement
I explore space and light through a curious experimentation with both traditional and nontraditional materials. My work has always been rooted in painting, yet when immersed in the process, I am consistently more involved with the painting as object than I am with the image. My paintings often look a lot like sculpture.
The poetics of painting make it a joyful, if sometimes awkward, pursuit for me. At the crossroads of the geometric and expressive qualities of abstraction, joy and awkwardness meet to produce vulnerability and strength.
