Artist Statement

In this group of paintings, fluid, transparent color has been applied over a rigid linear substructure. The method of application and the colors used are incongruous with the forms described. Color acts independently from the intersecting diagonal lines it follows. Perspective is simultaneously reinforced and negated. This creates complicated and unexpected effects. The color becomes stratified from the underlying structure.
