Dense, dreamy, and diagrammatic compositions tie seemingly disparate refer-ences together in an unwieldy knot, locking them in combat, conversation, and companionship. Metaphors are made literal, while familiar objects and lifeforms are transmuted into playful, potent symbols.

In making representational work, I hope to naturally weave complex histories and feelings together. Through the reflexive use of frames and inserts, my paintings become bittersweet, bibliographic documents, linking together my varied artistic and ancestral lineages with the cultural detritus and precious memories that informed their making. By indulging in swells of vibrant color, multimedia experimentation, and stowed away secrets, I aim for this unruly knot to be tightened into a lovely bow.
